Twitter Is Hot!

Everyone has been talking about Twitter lately and today I felt like adding it to my blog. It’s a great tool that allows you to broadcast your updates in many ways. Opening account on Twitter is easy and after you’re done you will get your own Twitter page (Here’s mine) which you can use to post updates about you or your Blog. You can also follow other people broadcasts thus create another social networking exposure of your site or blog.

The thing that surprised me (and that is the main capability that I was interested in) is setting up my Twitter account to pick up my blog RSS Feed. However, I was unable to find it on Twitter. Email and SMS updates are available but not RSS. I guess simply copying RSS would create another dupe content page, and that is what everyone is trying to avoid these days. I did some research and found several tools and plugins that will make your life easier with Twitter.

1. First one (the one that I installed on my WordPress Blog) is Twitter Updater WordPress Plugin which is used to automatically ping Twitter with all your new blog posts. It can even update your Twitter page while writing your blog post, thus informing people that you are onto something.
2. Second one is a service TwitterFeed.com again doing the same thing after you subscribe. They pick your RSS Feed and update your Twitter page with it.
3. Rss2Twitter is used for the same thing, and people seem to be satisfied with it too.
4. There is also an interesting Firefox extension called TwitterFox which is used to ease up your updates. It doesn’t pick RSS feeds like previous services and plugin, but can ease your Twitter updates by adding a toolbar to Firefox, which is something many people use.
