I would say that deliberately changing the algorithm so that nobody that has a domain name with a certain particular TLD can achieve a PR above 1 regardless of the popularity and quality of their site, would qualify as "human intervention", in some respect...no? I think it would also qualify as a type of discrimination, as well.

How else do you explain the fact that all .tk domain names were busted down, whether they deserved a decrease in rank or not?

When my respectable 3 year old site that was a PR4 gets dropped to a PR1 overnight, for no good reason, along with every other .tk site, then something was tampered with by a human, in some way, to cause it.

So this "no human intervention" stuff that is being spewed is lies & crap.

Some group of people behind closed doors at Google decided that every site of a particular TLD is worthless and took actions that resulted in the drop in rank for all of them.

I am just glad they decided to do it before I plunked down the money to pay for the domain name for the next 9 years. I would have been even more upset if they did it after.

Very interesting point. I was reading about Amit's post on digg and found your site. They certainly do some human intervention, the question is how much. I agree with you on most of this article points.
