Thinking about the title of this post I was lead by emotion. This time my emotions are somewhat mixed and I must say that I am a bit uncomfortable when I realize the truth once again. And the truth is more real, more obvious than ever before. The truth is that without Google we can’s survive these days. It seems like their market share is so huge that they became the only stable source of quality and productive traffic on the internet. We all need some Google love these days to survive, and we are all fighting (or begging) for it.

Do you want to see the raw truth? Take a look at one of my sites that has been online for the last 7 years and has been updated daily since then. By comparing the site with other sites in the same niche (and in my humble opinion) this site deserved much more than some 800-900 visitors daily that it got over the last year. It had better and unique content and tons of backlinks, neither of which was paid. And then the miracle started and is happening as we speak. On June 24th there was a spike in traffic. After I went to see what is happening and verify the traffic source, I saw it is a legit organic google traffic. After few days there was a drop and as soon as I thought the magic was over it spiked even higher, taking my site from some 800 to 4800 daily visitors. Should I say that was all courtesy of Google? You do the math. I remember the increases in the old days for some niche traffic had increased my visitors for some 30-50% but never 600%! Here is a google analytics screenshot:

This site deserve it, if not even more. The content on this site is more valuable than on any other site in this niche and we are updating it daily. The bottom line of this post is that things are very clear to me these days. The truth is that without some Google Love we can’t do much online these days. We need to be smart, offer more and play fair while focusing on “building sites for surfers, not for google” and Google will appreciate it by ranking your site higher.
